Just won it in an online auction.

Not really that concerned with a heavy barrel but the price was right.
Imbel receiver,Israeli furniture and two mags for under $900.

Did you have the head spacing checked by a smith before you shot it ?

If not it would be a good idea.

That is if its a KIT gun IE Made from a parts kit Rifle that was demilled having the original receiver cut in a few places.

And a Semi Auto selector would also be a good investment in keeping local Sheriff and or BATF&E out of your business.

Thanks but I haven't received it yet,just won it this morning...:D

Now finding a FFL to transfer it through will be fun...we live in a dead zone when it comes to firearms here,no-one is interested.

I was almost going to bid yesterday on a SAR-48(pre-ban) that had been converted into a para FAL,18'' barrel,still had izzy handguards and was an all Imbel rifle..was asking the seller questions and POOF!!! it was sold with the buy it now option.

It was more $$$ but was NICE!!!

You should buy one,just buy it in a neighboring state so you don't have to deal with the crappy laws in CA...You need to get out of CA...seriously.

I visited there WAY back when it was nicer(1980's) and although probably the best climate in the USA it is quite possibly the worst place to want to own 'bad firearms'.

I don't believe so....heavy barrels seem to be unique in that respect although I am not sure what the difference is....Of course for the price you could buy them and perhaps modify them to work...

There is a light barrel version of Israeli handguards. Find them by posting in the FALFiles marketplace, and expect to pay

around $100. You will also need two barrel spacers to fit the handguard properly, sold at GunThings.com for $8 each.

There are a ton of shooters there. Go to the General board on this site and ask for a FFL in your part of SC. If it's too much trouble to sign in, tell me where you live and I'll ask for you.

Also, any gun shop in your area will do the deed for a fee, usually for around $50.
